Lists each battalion and where it was originally recruited in Germany. Includes feldpost number, number of companies, names of personel, and where it was stationed or fought. I also have listed known atrocities including einsatzgruppen association, locations and death totals. Included are photos of the actual battalion or company when ever possible. Based on research I did for the "Police Battalions of the Third Reich" SS-Polizei is the story of one man and his role in the Holocaust. Beginning iin 1940 he describes what it was like for him and the men in his squad to participate actively in the death of tens of thousands of Jewish men, women, and children. The story follows his police battalion from the ghetto of Warsaw to the execution by firing squad of countless numbers of human beings. The deportation of thousands of Jews to the death camps and the battalions role in the bitter anti-partisan war that was fought behind the lines of the Wehrmacht. All events that are described actually happened. The main character is a historical recreation by the author. The photo on the cover is an actual member of one of the battalions whose photo album I acquired. |
